The autumn is here and the busiest time of the year is upon us. It won’t be long before we start making new year resolutions (again!). Has 2019 been a year of fulfilment? If yes, well done! If not, why not to try a new approach this time and start planning and implementing changes before the end of the year? Here are 6 Simple Steps to improve the quality of your life before 2020 arrives. 1. Start self-reflecting and journaling, especially when you feel frequently overwhelmed or struggle with negative thoughts and emotions. It will help you declutter your mind, put ideas in the right order, and release the build-up of negativity. You can then look back at your notes a few weeks or months later and see how many of our emotions, worries and stress have ‘expired’. It makes you realise it is really not worth spending any time or energy on them other than journal about them and forget them. Don’t forget to journal about your successes too and appreciate those who have helped you achieve them. It will make you feel great and attract more positivity into your life. 2. Think about your habits and start breaking the ones that don’t serve you. Or, experiment with some just to challenge yourself and give your brain an extra workout. It’ll pay dividend by making your brain more flexible and agile. Sometimes it’s enough to change your route to work, do something spontaneously or learn something new. This way, you may also, accidently, make a discovery or make friends with someone new. Life is full of surprises! 3. Be good to yourself and I don’t mean self-indulge. We need a mix of self-discipline and understanding towards ourselves, with loads of acceptance towards our own imperfections. After all, we all have them. Simply remember this and repeat it like a mantra – There’s no failure, only learning. 4. Practise little acts of kindness, but also, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Human beings love helping and it makes us feel good to be able to help someone. We thrive in being kind. If you offer to help, be reliable and do a great job. The best thing about it is it works both ways and it’s always a win-win! Again, remember about the law of attraction. Where attention goes, energy flows! 5. We are what we think, so develop a positive mindset. Replace the negative thoughts with positive ones. How? Spend all your time and energy on focusing on solutions and positive outcomes. Remember your successes and strengths. Negativity is like acid; positivity is like water. The latter makes things grow and purifies. 6. Empower yourself by getting to know yourself better, understanding yourself and what is actually important to you. Once you have done that your life will start becoming easier, calmer and fuller, and you will become a happier person. One way to achieve that is by hiring a coach. They are trained to provide you with a structure and step-by-step process to help you uncover your values and beliefs. Once that's done, they will help you set up and achieve your goals effectively and support you throughout the process of change. What are you waiting for? Do it now!
